Before this class, I had never heard of Edmodo. It took a bit of playing around with the website to fully understand how it works. But soon after creating my classroom, I was quickly able to post quizzes, notes, and pictures to my students and parents. Being able to communicate with both students and parents is probably my favorite feature of Edmodo. I think it can help connect with parents who live busy lives and do not have time to observe the physical classroom or go through a ton of paperwork.
I really enjoyed looking at your Edmodo. I really liked how you incorporated different questions that the students could answer on there. I also liked how you also made it interactive with the parents. At that age it is really important that the parents are part of there child's learning.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think it's really important to include parents especially in lower grades, such as 1st. The only challenge would be getting all of the parents to use it and participate in it with their child. Everyone is so busy today with crazy schedules. Do you have any suggestions for how a teacher could encourage parents to use the site?
DeleteI completed a Lynda tutorial on Edmodo for my ILP. I really like the classroom you created, it was interesting to see the content you created for young students and their parents. One cool feature that I learned from Lynda is that you can view your students' unique parent codes through the members tab (Edmodo even gives you a sample parent letter). This would allow you to send the codes home with your students to ensure that their parents can set up their accounts.

ReplyDeleteI really liked that in your Edmodo, you included notes that had tasks for both the student and parents. This is a REALLY good way to make sure that your students are being able to recall information that they should have learned in class. Your Edmodo looks very organized and would be a really great example to look off of in the future.
